Niagara wine country - an hour and a half from Toronto and 30 minutes from Buffalo and you will find Niagara's wine country. From Niagara-on-the-Lake to Grimsby, acres of vineyards stretch out from Lake Ontario, making the region Canada's largest producer of fine wines.
Take a historic drive along old hwy. #8, originally an old Indian trail and you will find dozens of wineries. To the east of St. Catharines you will come upon the vineyards of Niagara-on-the-Lake.
Cross the Welland Canal at Lock One and follow Lakeshore Road, another old Indian trail all the way to Niagara-on-the-Lake.
Spend a day sampling and exploring different wines and wineries. Most wineries provide free tours and wine tastings.
