Eight kilometres north of Niagara Falls, Ontario along the Niagara Parkway, across from the Whirlpool Golf Course is a vast area of green space along the river gorge called Niagara Glen.
Designated a Nature Reserve in the early 1990’s Niagara Glen contains one of the few remaining Carolinian forests in the area. Niagara Glen is 4 km of well groomed hiking trails and paths that will take you deep into the Niagara Gorge.
Niagara Glen offers spectacular views of the Whirlpool Rapids and the Niagara River. Parking is free and entrance to the hiking trails is also free. Pets on a leash are welcome. Niagara Glen is a very eco-sensitive area, and it is important to respect all park rules when visiting Niagara Glen.
Another location to enjoy Niagara Glen which is usually less conjested with tourists is just a short distance away on the south side of the Whirlpool Rapids across from the fountain at the Whirlpool Golf Course.
Here visitors will find plenty of free parking, a great location to barbeque or picnic and well groomed trails that will take you deep into the Niagara Gorge. These trails, like the trails at Niagara Glen are maintained by Niagara Parks.
